A Box Of Courage

Each box will be a little different. Perhaps over time they will evolve even more dramatically.

I've made two so far and each has a nest, one with a butterfly, and this one with a tiny mushroom bird.

Inside is a glass glittered star and a silk violet. I have to come up with the scroll which means coming up with words to articulate the purpose of the box, to inspire what it is meant to inspire. In all my other wish boxes I have mixed humor with sincerity, I wonder if that's appropriate here? You can see an example of the type of wish box I've made previously here.

I also need to find one or two more objects to include in the box. Although if I use the star ornament the courage box will have to be a little more expensive because of the labor involved in making them. Perhaps having an ornament is enough? I have to work on this today.

Those are nails stuck in the nest. I always like nails and screws in my work.

I love matchbox shrines. These wish boxes have been the most satisfying product I've made for my store. They do actually sell, which is cool. I am also thinking about putting together a little kit for making your own wish-box. I would include one or two boxes, a small collection of random ephemera including one or two pieces of Dresden die-cuts, a template for cutting out paper to cover the boxes, plus an instruction sheet that shows how to paper the box and some examples of boxes I've made for inspiration. What do you think?

ETSY question: for those of you who have Etsy shops, what's been your success? Do you have any tips on doing well with that? I have my own credit card machine and wonder if I can process sales through that or if it has to go through paypal?
