We bought some paint for our bedroom at
Lowe's and they gave us this handy little tool for free. I find it curious. It opens paint cans with ease. No more mangling the can lip with screw drivers that slip and stab you at least twice before prying the lid off. This little baby is designed to remove the lids with no drama. Good tools are beautiful things.

I was originally not going to drink beer yesterday. But it always seems impossible to paint without it. Beer and paint. Paint and beer. I was thinking this to myself while I was prying open the can of blue paint. Then I observed that one end of this nifty tool looks exactly like a bottle opener. So apparently, beer and paint go so well together that the paint lid opener comes equipped with the beer bottle opener, because eventually you are going to need to crack one open, and someone out there already figured this out.

I love
efficiency in tools. I love any tool that invites beer drinking. I was also playing my new mostly-early Beatles CD all day long. Very upbeat music. I was toying with the idea of only listening to happy music for the next two weeks. But then I will pretty much be limiting myself to my new mostly-early Beatles CD because the rest of my music is peppered with songs that are beautifully broody. I guess Irish drinking songs are pretty perky.

I really disliked my bedroom. I still hate my bedroom furniture which is cheap and ugly. This is what it looked like yesterday before I got busy. We decided to put our bed on this wall instead so we could face the only tiny window in our room. White walls= institutional walls. We have friends who feel absolutely the opposite about white walls. We have one friend who prefers white walls to all other colors. It's very chic of her, but we think she's maybe a little nuts.

You cannot see the colors we chose very well, but the darker wall is taupe. Well, it was supposed to be taupe. It actually turned out to be more of a beige when right next to all this blue. That's right: BEIGE. I hate beige. However, I will say that I'm pretty pleased with this beige and light blue combo. Light blues are often delicious, but I find I generally prefer warm colors over cool ones. That headboard is amazingly hideous. Some day I'm going to find a cool mid century modern bedroom set. When I'm rich. Anyway, transforming white walls into color is like getting a big dose of dopamine in the brain. Or
serotonin.
I would love to paint every room in the house right now. Today. But unfortunately I have some sewing to do at the shop. So I need to get dressed and get into the stitching zone. I also need to work on the next installment of the
gentleman's gift guide. I've been trying to figure out how to break types of women into groups. I know, it sounds frightfully sexist. Well, all people can be broken down into endless categories. We have to do it all the time to make life easier. In this case I would argue that it's scientific rather than sexist.
